Italian Coaching
My work has included solo and ensemble coaching for groups including the Tanglewood Festival Chorus of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, soloists for the Metropolitan Opera, Boston Lyric Opera, Staatstheater Darmstadt, Winter Opera St. Louis, Boston Opera Collaborative, and Flagstaff in Fidenza Opera Festival.
As a dual US/Italian citizen with degrees in Music and Italian Language and Literature, I am passionate about words, to say the least! Some of the most exciting and expressive work we do as artists happens in the interplay between text and music, and words are our greatest tool in expressing our characters and ourselves. I delight in coaching singers through new Italian roles, helping them discover and shape their unique expression of each role through the words their character speaks and sings. Much more than "proper pronunciation," the work begins with clear and expressive diction and explores a wealth of other aspects, including connection with text meaning, word coloring, cadence, phrasing, and use of Italian language unique to each character.
